Privacy Policy for Black Widow Key Machine V2 (the app).
This policy explains how Lock Labs, Inc. (“we”, “our”, or “us”) handles information in connection with the Black Widow Key Machine V2 mobile application (“App”). It applies only to the App and not to any other Lock Labs products or services. It is also published on its own page for app-store reference.
1 · INFORMATION COLLECTION — LIMITED TECHNICAL DATAThe App does not require you to provide your name, postal address, payment information or personal account credentials. It transmits limited technical identifiers used for machine functionality, licensing and support, as described below. The App collects and transmits only the following technical information: Machine Serial Number, Product Code and Connected Device Quantity. This data is required to enable Bluetooth connectivity and basic functionality. The Machine Serial Number is a technical identifier that can become associated with customer and service records when you contact Lock Labs for support or warranty service.
2 · LOCALLY STORED DATAThe following is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to Lock Labs: Key Cut History, Favorites (saved key types/settings) and App Settings.
3 · USE OF INFORMATIONThe limited technical data is used solely to authenticate your device with the key cutting machine, provide technical support, verify licensing and usage, and improve App performance.
4 · DATA SECURITYAll transmitted data is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS protocols. Data we store is protected using access-controlled environments and appropriate safeguards.
5 · DATA RETENTION & DELETIONTechnical identifiers are retained for as long as the machine is active, plus 90 days. To request deletion of the App's technical identifiers, contact us with your serial number — this data is erased within 30 days. This process covers the App's technical identifiers; service, warranty, transaction and accounting records that Lock Labs maintains are subject to their own retention requirements. You can delete local data using your device settings or by uninstalling the App.
6 · INFORMATION SHARINGWe do not sell, rent or disclose your data to third parties for their own use. No third-party analytics or advertising is used in the App. Service providers that operate App infrastructure — such as hosting and software-update servers — process limited technical data in order to provide those functions. Data may be disclosed only if required by law.
7 · APP PERMISSIONS (ANDROID)The current Android App requests: Bluetooth — including the nearby-devices permissions on Android 12 and later — to find and connect to your key cutting machine, with Bluetooth scanning declared never-for-location on modern Android; Camera — for photo-based decoding aids and scanning; Storage — on Android versions that require it, to save your key data and downloads on your device; Location — on Android 11 and earlier only, where the operating system requires a location permission for Bluetooth scanning; Phone/device state — basic device identification; and Network access — for key-database, code-lookup and update functions. You may disable permissions in your device settings, but doing so will limit functionality.
8 · SECURITY SAFEGUARDSWe implement industry-standard security, including encrypted transit and access controls. We recommend you keep your OS updated, enable a device lock, and control who has access to your phone or tablet.
9 · CHILDREN'S PRIVACYThe App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
10 · CHANGES TO THIS POLICYWe may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date and provide additional notice when appropriate or required.
